This traditional style Fair Isle Strawback Chair with double drawers is a faithful reproduction of the frame style and knotted back of the early Fair Isle strawbacks.
Over 100 hours of work goes into producing each of these heirloom pieces - 50/50 woodworking and straw. I work closely with the talented team at Paparwark in Bigton, who produce the frames from my blue-prints. The tall straw backs are then crafted at my studio in Lerwick.
Typically made in either ash or oak, with a back of Shetland Aets straw - a rare landrace crop.
